Collaboration Brings Surfboards to Far East Gippsland!

Surfing Victoria continues to show support for the Reclink East Gippsland team with a special delivery of surfboards to ensure that local communities can enjoy additional water-based activities in Reclink’s bushfire recovery response.

After the successful rollout of Reclink’s stand-up paddle-boarding program, in which participants paddle along local waterways, immersing in nature and observing signs of recovery, the Reclink East Gippsland team was keen to offer surfing to the community.

Surfing Victoria stepped up to assist; Surfing Victoria’s Operations Manager Peter Murphy personally delivered 10 new Gboard surfboards that Reclink purchased with assistance from Windermere, the DFFH, and GBoards Australia.

Reclink, Surfing Victoria, the Mallacoota Surf Shack and Mallacoota Boardriders are working together to support 12 locals to gain their Surf Coach qualifications, upskilling locals and establishing employment pathways for young people.

Local communities are keenly looking forward to the upcoming Learn to Surf programs and Reclink can’t wait to share the surfing stoke and introduce more ocean therapy opportunities.

Stay tuned as we move into warmer weather for the rollout of our surfing programs!
