Run For Your Life: Justine Babitsch Finishes Marathon

Justine Babitsch's inspirational marathon campaign came to an end yesterday after she crossed the finish line at Lake Weeroona.

"It really good to finally complete it and I am really, really happy with what I achieved," she said.

"It was a little better than what I expected and I paced myself but I did hit a wall at 36km mark and start cramping and it a wall," she said.

"But I managed to get through that okay and pulled up really well so I am thrilled really."

Justine's goal was not only to complete the 42km marathon, but raise money for a cause dear to her heart - Reclink Australia, a non-for profit organisation that provides sport and art programs to disadvantaged Australians to create socially inclusive, life-changing opportunities.

Justine hoped to raise $1000 for sporting equipment for children with a disability, the total is now sitting at $1156.

"It has blown me away with how much money we have raised and I want to thank everyone," she said.

"This has all been fantastic really."

Justine said she also received an unexpected and inspiring phone call from Australian long-distance runner and physical health consultant Steve Monegetti wishing her luck the night before.

She said the support she received was overwhelming.

"I got lots of local support and I am really appreciative of the community and support I received and had an amazing crew and I couldn't have done this without them, it was a team effort really," she said.

"I really want to thank everyone that was there, I had people run and ride it with me and I had fantastic support when I got to the lake."
