The Reclink Australia community is mourning the recent loss of staff member Vanessa Janss.
In August, Vanessa was appointed as Community Connector & Arts Coordinator working for Reclink in the town of Mallacoota in Victoria.
Vanessa’s role was particularly significant in light of the recent trauma suffered in the Mallacoota, Cann Valley and surrounding districts by the bushfire crisis of early 2020; as well as the subsequent impacts of COVID-19.
Vanessa was a highly professional and personable member of the Reclink team, she was a ray of light who shined brightly among not only her colleagues, but members of the communities with which she worked as well.
The tightknit and loving nature of the small communities that Vanessa worked with so closely with means that the tragedy of her loss will be widespread.
Reclink Australia will continues to provide the local team of staff and volunteers with every support we can through a difficult time for them and the community they have been supporting.
We send our sincere best wishes, thoughts and prayers to the Janss and Menke families, as well as all of Vanessa’s colleagues and friends at this time of mourning.
There will be a celebration memorial for Vanessa that will be held on Saturday 13th November. Please refer to the Reclink East Gippsland Facebook page for further details closer to the date.
