Reclink’s 30th Anniversary Celebration

Over 320 people gathered in the Victory Room at Marvel Stadium on Friday 3rd December 2021 for a memorable evening as Reclink Australia officially celebrated their 30th Anniversary with a Gala Dinner.

Months of planning from the Reclink team came to a crescendo in spectacular fashion as attendees enjoyed a night filed with fun, tributes, presentations, entertainment and celebration.

Rockwiz’s Brian Nankervis and ABC Radio’s Jacinta Parsons guided the proceedings magnificently as MC’s, even managing to incorporate a quick quiz into the beginning of the evening to raise the already-high spirit of the room.

What followed was an emotional welcome from Reclink Chair Michael Brown, and a standing ovation for each of Reclink’s two newest Life Membership inductees, Theresa Sgambaro and Founder Peter Cullen. Congratulations to you both.

Peter’s daughter Lucinda read a moving message that paid tribute to the tireless charitable work of her father, and the dry eyes lessened across the room as guests continued to recognise the gravity of the achievements that they were celebrating.

Australian music legend Paul Kelly was next to make a special appearance, and the performance of three of his greatest hits, ‘Firewood and Candles’, ‘Dumb Things’ and ‘How to Make Gravy’ had the entire room clapping, singing and dancing with gusto.

CEO Dave Wells was next to grace the stage, sharing a few stories of the impact that Reclink’s programs and approach continue to have on the daily lives of people right across Australia.

Following that, it was time to raise some funds that would go a long way to ensuring the work of Reclink continued so much longer than the 30 years that were being celebrated.

Silent auctions, live auctions, table raffles and the major raffle of a first prize Hamilton Island Holiday were all wrapped up, and on behalf of the Board, we would like to pass on a particularly big congratulations to the following winners in the RaffleLink Major Raffle Draw:

  • 1st PRIZE WINNER - Craig Matheson - Ticket Number: #897
  • 2nd PRIZE WINNER - Luke De Kort - Ticket Number: #922
  • 3rd PRIZE WINNER - Lori Curran - Ticket Number: #23

In addition to these recipients though, Reclink Australia’s board and staff are grateful for the generosity shown by not only those in attendance on the night, but also everybody who took the time to buy a raffle ticket and donate to our cause in the months leading up to the event.

It is on this note and with great pleasure that we are thrilled to announce that our 30th Anniversary Gala Dinner celebration has netted us a grand income from fundraising of $68,000 that will go a long way towards ensuring Reclink’s structured sport and recreation programs continue to help improve life outcomes for those experiencing mental illness, family violence, homelessness, social isolation, gambling harm, unemployment, and drug and alcohol harm.

During and post-COVID-19 restrictions, Reclink programs and activities are more important than ever, and with your generous support, these programs can continue to have an impact.

Reclink Australia would like to thank everyone for their attendance at what was nothing short of a very special celebration in so many ways.

We’re honoured and privileged to continue our work that impacts the lives of disadvantaged Australians every single day, which we cannot do without the ongoing support of generosity of our sponsors, supporters, donors, staff, volunteers, member agencies and indeed the wider general public.

Thank you, and bring on 2022 and beyond!
