The annual take-no-prisoners traditional clash between the Rockdogs and Triple R 102.7FM / PBS 106.7FM Megahertz will be fought out at Elsternwick Park on Sunday 21st June.
From what started out in 1994 as a humble Australian Rules football match amongst the music fraternity, it is today an event which last year saw a strong crowd of 10,000 plus attend and well over $100,000 raised on the day for Reclink’s sport and arts programs for disadvantaged Australians.
This widely adored and annually anticipated all-inclusive fun day out is as much about celebrating Australian grassroots football as it is about celebrating Melbourne’s vibrant community radio sector and music community.
Over the event’s 21 year history, tens of thousands of sports loving, fun loving and music loving patrons have gathered to see the who’s who of the radio and music industry that support the event on stage, as umpires, players, volunteers and patrons.
Going from strength to strength the Reclink Community Cup is very much part of Melbourne’s rock and roll, football and charity events calendar.
This awesome footy match between the community broadcasters from Triple R 102.7FM and PBS 106.7FM and the Melbourne rock fraternity as well as live music performances from some of Melbourne’s most well-known bands remains the showpiece of the day.
Preparations are well underway to make the 2015 Reclink Community Cup an outstanding family friendly fun day out, one for all Melbournians to embrace, and to carry on a tradition that has now been occurring for the past 21 years.
We want the community to get behind Reclink by joining the Rockdogs and Megahertz on this fantastic day out to raise money for the disadvantaged in our community. With a national network of member agencies, Reclink Australia provides annually more than 100,000
individual opportunities to participate in over 10,000 sport and arts activities around the country.
This year also recognises 25 years of outstanding work by Reclink Australia to improve the lives of the most disadvantaged and vulnerable people Australia-wide through participation in sport and the arts.
Finally last year, the drought broke after two years of previous matches ending in a draw, with the Rockdogs taking home the coveted Cup. Who will take the honour of winning the 2015 Reclink Community Cup?
