Reclink Australia were delighted to welcome a group of volunteers from Swisse to our Sports Share facility in Werribee last week to help us sort through hundreds of new and used footwear generously donated by the Australian Sporting Goods Association (ASGA).

Alongside Founder Peter Cullen AM and members of the Reclink Australia Marketing and Fundraising team, the group from Swisse donated their time as part of their Global Volunteer Day to provide the invaluable assistance.

Thanks to ASGA, several pallets’ worth of footwear was initially delivered to Sports Share before being unpacked, sorted and re-packed.

It is estimated that over 700 pairs of shoes will be able to be passed on to our member agencies and Reclink participants most at need, with anything else deemed to be in poor condition subsequently saved from landfill and recycled into use as sporting mats and floors.

Swisse Government Affairs Manager Elise Giles, who was part of the volunteer crew donating their time, said it was a highly rewarding experience to be involved.

“At Swisse, our mission is to make people healthier and happier and one way we believe is through movement,” she said.

“We loved connecting with community and volunteering with Reclink as part our Global Community Day.

“We are overjoyed to help salvage over 700 pairs of shoes to enable and encourage Reclink participants in their movement and sporting endeavours.”

Reclink Australia would like to thank Swisse for their help in coordinating the event and look forward to exploring ongoing collaboration opportunities in the future.
