Reclink Australia Founder Peter Cullen AM made a special visit to Alice Springs last week, making the long trek via car to help re-establish Reclink’s presence in the Red Centre.

Under the guidance and support of Lucinda Moody, Sport & Recreation Manager for the Northern Territory, Peter was joined by wife Jeanette Burge, former West Victorian Metro Sports Coordinator Eangano Singehebhuye, Reclink Australia Life Member Hayden Legro and representatives from fellow not-for-profit organisation Heavenly Culture World Peace and Restoration of Light’s (HWPL) Australia for a busy 4-day schedule of activities within the community.

Peter visited Reclink sports programs that have been re-established by Lucinda, connecting with participants and program instructors across a range of community organisations such as the YMCA and Centralian Middle School.

Peter’s weekend in Alice Springs featured a street outreach to local residents of donated sporting goods, equipment and clothing through the ever-expanding Reclink Sports Share program; as well as a special Community Clinic co-hosted by the Melbourne Football Club on the day prior to their AFL game against Fremantle at Tragear Park.

After collaborating with David Rennick from Melbourne, there was then a handout of football boots following the half-time AFL Auskick game to children from the Alparra community.

Peter and Hayden were also lucky enough to catch Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin and assistant coach Mark Williams for pre-game photos to commemorate their work.

In between a busy rundown of commitments, Peter was also prominent in the local media, spreading the word of Reclink through radio interviews and meetings with local and Northern Territory political representatives to acquaint them with the work and history of Reclink in the area.

Reclink looks forward to continuing to work with all social agencies and organisations in Alice Springs and surrounding areas to bring people together through our sport and recreation programs.

A big thank you and acknowledgement to Lucinda Moody for her welcome and her enthusiasm in re-launching Reclink Australia’s work in the Northern Territory. We’re very excited to see what comes next!
